Information

What is this?
This is a mini bang for Tian Guan Ci Fu/TGCF/Heaven Official’s Blessing in all its forms! You will be writing a story in collaboration with an artist to post to ao3 (and other media if you wish) based around the work. This is an 18+ event.
Each author will write at least 10,000 words in the span of about 4-5 months.
Each artist will provide at least one polished piece in return.Where will this be posted?
All authors will be posting their fics, in their entirety, to ao3.
All art will either be embedded in the fic and/or have a link to their preferred posting platform.Will these fics be edited?
All fics will need to be beta-ed and posted in a finished and polished form. Beta’s are not provided but there will be a role on the discord to help you find one if needed.What roles will be available?
Author- Write 10,000 words.
Artist- Create one polished piece for a fic written for the bang.
Pinch-hit- This will be a discord only role for those that want to pick up fics if their partners have dropped.
Beta- This will be a discord only role that people can tag in order to find a beta.
Sensitivity Reader- This will be a discord only role for those that have Chinese cultural knowledge and are willing to help those who don’t.How will matching be done?
All forms and data will be stored through Air Table.
Authors will turn in a matching form, a fic pitch, that is assigned a number.
Artists will then turn in a form that lists their top fic pitches in order of preference.
Host Kyt will then spend one sleepless night matching everybody to the best of her ability and making sure everybody gets as close to their top picks while matching the most fics she can.
If there are any fics that remain after the first round, there will be a second round in the form of “First Come, First Serve” until all fics are taken.
Matches will be sent out through email at the end of this.

General

-All participants must have a discord. This is the easiest way to meet other participants, contact mods and, in general, communicate. This is the first place to get information and help. If necessary, you are able to mute the server so that you will only be notified when we tag everyone in the server for announcements. If you need help with this please contact a mod.
Please make sure your DMs are open, at least when matching goes out as this is the #1 way for pairs to get a hold of each other-You must be 18 or older to join this event or the discord. If we find you are a minor after you have joined then you will immediately be kicked from the server and the event. The discord will be regulated but it will be run with the understanding that everyone there is over the age of 18.-As of the moment we are allowing non-participants to join the discord. We only ask that you remember that first and foremost this is a server for the bang, and we would really enjoy it if you did decide to join! Overall, we are trying to build a community just as much as we are trying to build and run an event. If you are not participating please make sure you keep to the same standards of courtesy and anonymity as everybody else.-You can take on multiple roles. We just ask that you use common courtesy when it comes to anonymity until after matches have gone out. We also ask that you be the judge of your own limits and only take on as much as you know you can handle.-Deadlines are predetermined and hard-set. They will be given with a link to the schedule in multiple places and plenty of warning in the discord as well occasionally other social media.-Be kind and courteous. We have a variety of people joining this event and there are a variety of opinions of various subjects! We just ask that you keep any and all conversations civil. It is perfectly okay for you to step away if the argument gets too heated. If things get out of hand, please contact a mod.-Communication and collaboration is our highest priority. Please come to us with any questions, comments, or concerns, we want to help! Do your best to please keep in contact with your partner after pairings. It is greatly important, as it is the whole purpose of the bang, that partners continue to communicate through the WHOLE event. We understand things come up, but a quick message once in a while, if possible, to say you'll be gone for a bit is greatly appreciated!

Authors

-All authors must have at least one completed and polished written work of AT LEAST 10,000 words by the posting dates. There is no maximum limit.-The story must have a beginning, middle and end, even if it is the first part of a series.-The fic must be written in English but may be translated into other languages at any point so long as the first posting of the fic is in English.-The story must feature at least one TGCF character in the main role.
-We are not allowing RPFs.
-Each author will have until the posting date to work on their fic. **This is about 4-5 months. **-You may use a WIP so long as it has not been posted anywhere. (Small snippets posted on social media are okay as long as the whole work isn’t actively published.)-You may submit a sequel to a previously written work so long as you are either willing to provide a summary for the artist, or the fic can serve as a stand alone story.-You may submit multiple fics (each fic reaching the 10,000 word minimum), but please be aware of your own limits and only take what you know you can handle.-You can write a series of one shots so long they all have one connecting thread, reach 10,000 words collectively, and have a finished conclusion.-Betas are required in the sense that your story must be polished and edited. There are resources in the discord to help with this.-Fics cannot be shared publicly until after posting. They may be discussed in the discord in the author’s channel (and more freely in other channels after matches), and you may provide sneak peaks and snippets for things like WIP Wednesday.

Artists

-Artist must provide at least ONE finished piece that pertains to their author’s story. Finished will depend on what you considered “finished”. But we do ask that you match the author’s energy!-Multiple pieces for one fic are allowed and even encouraged!-You may take on multiple fics but please be aware of your own limits and only take on what you know you can handle.-Any form of art is allowed, but it must be able to be shared digitally.-Art cannot be shared publicly until after posting. They may be discussed in the discord in the artist’s channel (and more freely in other channels after matches), and you may provide sneak peaks and snippets for things like WIP Wednesday, but do not share the whole piece.

Posting

-All fics will be posted to AO3. They will be marked complete and added to the TGCFMiniBang2022 Collection. You will post to the collection and the mods will go in and accept it on your posting date as long as it is marked complete.-All fics will be posted in their entirety on their posting day. You may post your chapters over the space of the day, but it must be marked complete by the end of the day.-All fics must be free of major changes and remain up for a full year. Sequels are allowed, as are minor edits.-All fics will embed the related art and/or link to the artist’s post.-All fics must credit the beta.-Art will be posted on their preferred platform.-Art will link back to the fic.-1-3 fics will be posted per day for the month of August depending on how many participants we have. Exact posting dates will be posted once we have a better idea of numbers.

Drop Outs

-If you find you have to drop out of the bang, we ask that you do it as soon as possible as your partner will then be forced to find a new partner.-Communicate with your partner that you are dropping if it is after matching.-If you are able, please come to the mods before dropping if there is anything we may be able to help with. We want to give each person the best experience possible.-We will not be asking why you are dropping, it is not our business to know or judge, but you are more than welcome to provide an explanation if you think it will help. If it was a problem with any part of the event, we would like to know so we can make it better in the future.-Don’t ghost your partner.-If you drop out you will be allowed to stay in the server.After Matching
-If an author drops, the artist will be given a choice of picking a new fic from a list of fics provided by the mods, dropping from the event, or, if it is late enough in the event, posting their art without the fic.-If an artist drops, the author will be sent to pinch hits to be picked up by a new artist.

Check Ins

-If you do not turn in a form at any point during the bang you will be considered dropped.-Half way check-ins are exactly that, check-ins. We will not be checking drafts. We only ask that you have started and know that you will finish. We know each person writes differently and only you can be the judge of your own progress. We just want to know that everyone is happy with the level of communication happening.-No extensions will be given. The only time you will have to worry about submitting a draft is for your posting date. There will be a form for you to pick a date that works best for you. If this needs to change please dm a mod immediately.

Pinch Hits

-Once you join the discord you will be able to take the pinch hit role. This means you are willing to be pinged on fics that have lost their artist.-If an artist drops, the fic will be reopened in air table and pinch hit artists will be tagged on discord.-Pinch hits will be first come, first serve until they are gone.-If an author drops, that artist will get first hit at any pinch hits. If they do not want any of the pinch hits or there are no pinch hits available, then they will be allowed to choose from the authors again and an author will be getting two artists.
